Wesley Methum

Wesley started running with Santa Rosa Express when he was younger and has been running with Rincon Valley Christian PSP since he was a sophomore. In his essay he wrote, “One of my goals in my high school career was to qualify for state championships. I achieved that goal senior year of cross country by qualifying in the toughest section in Northern California… Since then, running has had a huge impact on my life... More and more, I am enjoying running just for what it is. Obviously, competitions is what drives me to become a better runner, but often, just running through Annadel with a group of friends has some of the best rewards.” Wesley will be attending Master’s University in Los Angeles in the fall and will be running with them in Cross Country and Track and Field. He plans to study to become a physical therapist.

Katelynn Edwards

Katelynn graduated from Cloverdale High School and was a leader in cross-country and track for four years. She was involved in her school’s Interact Club and mentored others to get involved in her community. The Interact Advisor wrote, she “was a positive and charming example to others, always upbeat and smiling.” Katelynn reflects, “Running has also become an important outlet of stress for me everyday. Having a very busy schedule of work, clubs, and demanding classes, running has become a relaxing and rejuvenating part of my day.” Katelynn will be attending U.C. San Diego in the fall to major in Human Biology.

Carlos Cervantes

Carlos was a runner for Healdsburg Running Kids Club and Healdsburg High School. He volunteered helping as a leader for Healdsburg Running Kids Club. Carlos wrote, “To me, running works like listening to music. It separates me from everything else and it’s just me, and the course… I hope that in these next four years of my college career I never stop running; it’s a sort of getaway from reality. Something I always want to improve in, that gave me my ‘If I can run faster, I can get my grades higher’ mentality.” Carlos will be attending the Santa Rosa Junior College and running Cross Country.

Congratulations Wesley, Katelynn, and Carlos! Keep running and best to you all in college!
